Expert Answers about License Plates and Frames

  • How Does Cruiser Barbed Wire License Plate Frame Install
  • Actually when you install the Barbed Wire License Plate frame part # CR22230 you basically just install it over the license plate. This isn't the type of frame that requires you to manipulate the plate into the frame. To see how it will install check out the install video I attached that shows a similar plate frame being installed.

  • Instructions for Wiring an LED License Plate Frame on a 2005 Dodge Ram
  • Is this a license plate frame? When are you wanting it to light? I wouldd recommend wiring it to come on with your headlights by tapping into the license plate light circuit. The frame would light up when your headlights were turned on. If you are wanting it to light as the brakes were applied, locate one of the wires for the brake light circuit and tap into that. The easiest place to access this wiring would be behind the taillights.

  • Replacing a Rusted License Plate Bracket with a Plastic License Plate Holder on a Cargo Trailer
  • You can certainly replace the license plate bracket on your cargo trailer. I am guessing the license plate mounting screws are the part that is rusted. To remove them, you may want to use a drill to remove the screws or just break the heads off of the license plate screws to remove the license plate. Since you will be replacing the license plate bracket, you will not need to reuse the rusted screws or bracket. Once the screws and bracket are removed, you can install the Optronics Cargo...

  • Recommended Location to Attach a License Plate to a Tilt Easy Hauler
  • I would recommended checking with your local law enforcement or state highway patrol because laws and regulations vary from state to state. On the other hand, I have seen a couple license plates mounted to the wheel fender. I would recommend a license plate frame such as # CR62032. It will show more plate in all 50 states. A LED license plate light mounting bracket such as # LPL55CB could also be a great addition especially since you are towing a easy hauler. I have included a video...

  • Fastener Caps for License Plate Bracket
  • The Fastener Caps for License Plates and License Plate Frames - Clear Crystals - Qty 4 # CR82431 are compatible with metric or standard mounting screws. They have an exterior ring that the screw goes through and then the cap will fit the base ring. This will work well for the bracket but it will replace the acorn caps so it will not work with those but will replace them.

  • How To Install License Plate And Light Kit On The Pro Series Hitch Cargo Carrier # 63153
  • On the Pro Series Hitch Cargo Carrier, part # 63153, you can use the Optional Light Kit, part # 20174. This light kit will install on the Pro Series cargo carrier and plug into a 4-flat connector on your vehicle. This will give you operating taillights on the back of your cargo carrier. To mount your license plate on your vehicle and illuminate it I would recommend using either the Optronics License-Plate Light w/ Mounting Bracket, part # LP55CB, or the Peterson License Plate Light with...

  • How Durable Is the Green Bay Packers NFL 3-D License Plate Frame
  • The reviews for the Green Bay Packers NFL 3-D License Plate Frame part # FTF115 are similar reviews for like products. That said, this particular one is made most of steel which is chrome plated with very little painted sections. I don't see any issue at all with durability. The other big factor that plays into this is what sort of climate you live in and if the roads are salted or not.

  • Will the K-Source Vision System Block License Plate Information from Being Seen
  • I attached a picture that shows how much of a license plate the part # KSVS-8 would take up. But you should note that the angle of the picture makes the camera look like it take up more of the plate that it actually does. The best recommendation I can do is for you to compare the attached picture to the plates of your vehicle so that you can determine if any info on the plate would get covered. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • Where Does the Westin Ultimate Bull Bar Mount on a 2000 Ford Ranger
  • The Westin Ultimate Bull Bar, # 33-0885, mounts to the frame on your 2000 Ford Ranger. If you have anything already attached to the frame at the front of the truck then it likely uses the same mounting locations on the frame or occupies at least some of the space required to install the Bull Bar. Also there are some installation notes for this product: Plastic shroud must be removed (if equipped) Product may partially cover the license plate. If needed, use license plate relocator # 32-0055,...

  • How to Wire the LED Trailer License-Plate Light # LPL55CB
  • You will need to use a quick splice, item # SWC502905-1, and splice the black wire from the LED Trailer License-Plate Light, item # LPL55CB, into the taillight wire on your trailer. The taillight wire is normally the brown wire, but you should use a circuit tester, item # PTW2993 if needed, to be sure you are splicing into the correct wire. You will then need to attach the white wire to ground, usually the trailer frame or the white wire coming from the trailer connector. Once wired the...

  • Installing 2-Wire Lighted License Plate Bracket on Trailer
  • When wiring a 2-wire license plate bracket, such as the Optronics LED # LPL55CB, you are correct that the white wire will be for ground and the black wire is used for the running lights. The white wire from the bracket should be attached to a clean, bare metal surface on the trailer frame for a secure ground. As you mentioned, the brown wire on your trailer is most likely the correct wire to tap into for the black wire on the bracket, but you will want to verify this by testing the wires...

  • How to Wire a License Plate Bracket with a Light on a Dune Buggy
  • License plate lights are typically wired to the running light circuit. You should have no problem wiring your plate light in with your existing tail lights. I recommend using solder, # FL0803484, and a soldering iron for these connections, but a quick splice, # SWC502905-1, will work if you do not have access to a soldering iron. A circuit tester, # 3808, will be needed to locate the running light circuit on the dune buggy. Typically it is easiest to find this circuit at the rear of the...

  • Can License Plate be Placed on Top of Tail Light Assembly of Detail K2 Mighty Multi Utility Trailer
  • While I appreciate your ingenuity, you cannot install the light brackets in reverse so the license plate is on the right-hand (passenger's side) when installing the tail light assemblies of the Detail K2 Mighty Multi A-Frame Utility Trailer # K2MMT5X7. The reason is, the light assemblies have a hole on the inside which the wiring goes through and allows it to connect to the light. That hole would be covered if you switched assemblies because the brackets would be facing the opposite way,...

  • Can Hopkins Rear View Camera with Backup Sensors # HM60195VA Work on Ford E-250 Van
  • I spoke with my contact at Hopkins and they said that the adjustment on the license frame backup sensors of the Hopkins Rear View Camera with Backup Sensors, part # HM60195VA, would not be enough to cover the complete rear of the your Ford E-250 van. Since the license plate on your Ford E-250 van is on the passengers side rear door the sensors would not adjust enough to cover the rear drivers side of the van. They do offer the Hopkins Wireless Backup Sensors, part # HM20195-VACLEN, which...

  • How to Mount ClearCover License-Plate Frame With Cover # WT60020 Using Just 2 Mounting Holes
  • I have had several vehicles that only had attachment points on the top (and 1 that only had them on the bottom for some reason). Basically, you will use the machine screws, put them through the holes in the cover and license plate that are NOT used for mounting the plate to the car. Use the included nuts to secure the screws. Then you would just use the mounting screws that match your vehicle in the other two holes.

  • How To Wire License Plate Bracket from Peterson Part PM436B
  • Make sure you attach the bracket to the trailer frame directly. This particular light is grounded to the trailer frame via the hardware. Make sure there is good metal to metal contact. Once you have the bracket mounted, all you have to do is splice the wire lead to the running light circuit of the trailer. This is typically a brown wire. To be sure, hook up the trailer to the truck, and turn on the headlights. Use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993, to find the wire that is hot with...

  • Using Optronics Hardware # LP52HP to Secure License Plate to Factory Flush Bracket on New Trailer
  • The Optronics Hardware Kit # LP52HP that you referenced is indeed the best option we have available for securing the license plate to the factory bracket on your new travel trailer. This kit is designed specifically for the Optronics brackets like their LED # LPL55CB, which has a really similar design to the one in the picture you attached. I can't say for certain that the nut won't rub up against the surface of the trailer, but you can compare the depth of your bracket's mounting holes...
